Russian teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva continued her giant-slaying exploits at the Dubai Tennis Championships by upsetting Kazakhstani sixth seed Elena Rybakina 6-4 4-6 6-3 in the semi-finals on Friday.

Russia’s Mirra Andreeva, 17, defeated Dane Clara Tauson 7-6(1), 6-1 to win the Dubai Tennis Championships on Saturday, becoming the youngest woman to win a WTA 1000 event since the introduction of the format in 2009.

Teenager Mirra Andreeva became the youngest player to reach the Dubai Championships final after beating Elena Rybakina 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 on Friday. The 17-year-old Andreeva trailed 3-1 in the third set before winning the last five games to reach her second tour final.

An inspired Mirra Andreeva beat world number two Iga Swiatek for the first time in her career with a dominant 6-3 6-3 victory on Thursday at the Dubai Duty Free Championships where the Russian 17-year-old set up a semi-final clash with Elena Rybakina.
