ATLANTA — Fans, family, and friends gathered Sunday evening to honor Atlanta hip-hop icon DJ Unk at a heartfelt vigil celebrating his life and legacy. Known to the world as the artist behind the 2006 smash hits "Walk It Out" and "2 Step," DJ Unk, whose real name was Anthony Leonard Platt, passed away at the age of 43.

Another Atlanta legend is gone. DJ Unk, most known for snap-era songs like “2 Step” and “Walk It Out,” died on Friday, according to a statement sent from long-time producer and collaborator Korey “Big Oomp” Roberson.

DJ Unk, the Atlanta rapper and hype man known for his 2000s hits "Walk It Out" and "2 Step," has passed away. He was only 43 years old. His wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, shared the news on Friday in an emotional Facebook post.
