GSK is acquiring an experimental medicine from a Cambridge biotech to shore up its drug pipeline and muscle into the promising field of liver therapies.

GSK plans to purchase an experimental drug for the liver disease MASH from Boston Pharmaceuticals for $1.2 billion upfront.

With its purchase of Boston Pharmaceuticals' drug, GSK extends a streak of dealmaking it's undertaken to build a liver disease franchise.
