Homeowner fatally shoots one of two suspects during a home invasion in Bradenton, Florida; the second suspect is apprehended.

A suspected home invasion in Bradenton turned fatal late Thursday night after the homeowner confronted two intruders and shot one of them, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, a home owner in the River Club community shot at two intruders entering the rear of his home on Hickory Hammock Circle. The incident happened just after 9 p.m. when the homeowner saw two men on video surveillance outside his home.

They included gadwall, northern pintail and bufflehead (three varieties of duck), shorebirds like the piping plover and red knot, a peregrine falcon and colorful songbirds like the cedar waxwing and black-throated blue warbler.

One man is dead, and another is under arrest after a homeowner fired shots at them during an attempted home invasion Thursday night, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
