U.S. Representative-elect Gabe Evans is vowing to focus on what unites -- not divides -- Colorado's Congressional District 8. Evans is the projected winner of a race Speaker Mike Johnson billed as one of the top five most important contests in the country this year.

Gabe Evans, a right-wing state representative, defeated Representative Yadira Caraveo, a first-term Democrat who was the first Latina elected to federal office in Colorado.

Democratic incumbent Yadira Caraveo conceded the race for Colorado's U.S. House District 8 seat to Republican Gabe Evans Sunday afternoon.
