Law enforcement in Indiana issued a statewide Blue Alert for an "armed and dangerous" suspect who allegedly shot a sheriff's deputy in the southern part of the state, authorities said.

A Blue Alert has been declared after a deputy was shot in Orange County in southern Indiana. The deputy's condition wasn't known at time of publication.

Indiana State Police are trying to locate Austin Schepers. He is described as a 33-year-old man who stands 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo of a cross under his left eye and multiple tattoos around his next.
