Derek Haas talks his controversial decision to put Jensen Ackles' character's life in peril in his new Prime Video thriller.

Prime Video's Countdown got off to a rough start with the reveal that Jensen Ackles‘ character has a fatal health diagnosis. During the premiere, which aired on Wednesday, June 25, Mark Meachum (Ackles) was seen suffering from consistent headaches.

“I would love to claim it as a Supernatural reference,” he tells TV Insider with a laugh. “But that’s the title of the episode. To me, it just speaks to that, a lot of people have told him, ‘You’re dead,’ that he’s been in all of these moments before, and guess what? He’s a survivor. So that’s what he’s [saying there].”
