An Italian man escaped a New York City apartment where he says he was kidnapped and tortured for weeks over a Bitcoin password.
SOHO, Manhattan -- One of two cryptocurrency investors under arrest in the alleged kidnapping and torture of a man in New York has waived his court appearance on Wednesday morning.
Like co-defendant John Woeltz, the second suspect is expected to face charges of kidnapping, assault and unlawful imprisonment, police sources said.
The duo was spotted there on multiple nights in a row, reportedly spending between $80,000 and $100,000 during each visit.
The second suspect in the SoHo crypto torture case has surrendered and now faces charges including kidnapping and assault.
Sources said cryptocurrency investor John Woeltz took the man's passport, tied him up, tortured and photographed him until the man managed to escape and alert authorities.
