US Sen. Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador Wednesday seeking to meet with government officials there about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man who had been living in his state until he was mistakenly deported by the Trump administration last month to a mega-prison in the Central American nation.

Van Hollen, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in a video posted to X that he hopes to meet with Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

The Kilmar Abrego Garcia case has put Maryland in the national spotlight and tests the power of all three branches of federal government.
