V Narayanan has been appointed the new Space Secretary and chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro). Currently serving as the Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), Narayanan will succeed the incumbent chairman, S Somanath, from January 14.

MUMBAI: There’s a new head at the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) and at the department of space (DoS). On 7 January, the  appointments committee of the cabinet sent out a notification announcing the selection of the head of the liquid propulsion systems centre (LPSC)  V Narayan in the organisation as the man for the job.

Presently the Director of ISRO's Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), Narayanan will assume the role from S Somanath, who is set to complete his term next week.

According to an official order from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Narayanan has been appointed to serve in these roles for the next two years.
