Tel was originally signed on loan in January, with a view to a permanent deal under former boss Ange Postecoglou. Frank is said to have given the deal his approval, with Spurs making the move permanent, as Postecoglou had intended. Tel made 20 appearances in all competitions for Spurs in 2024-25, scoring three goals and registering one assist.

Tottenham have announced the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich. Tel originally joined Spurs on loan on February from Bundesliga Champions Bayern until the end of the season. The Frenchman has now signed a six-year-contract until 2031 when his current loan deal expires on 30 June.
