A small plane crashed into two homes Saturday afternoon in Simi Valley, California, leaving one person in the plane dead and damaging both homes, authorities said.

Firefighters and police responded swiftly by securing the area and urging residents to stay away as smoke poured from the roof of one of the affected houses.
