Among a collection of bills signed into law over the weekend, U.S. President Joe Biden approved legislation to rename the post office in Plains, Ga. after recently dead former President Jimmy Carter and the late First Lady Rosalynn Carter.

In a tribute to the Carters’ legacy, the post office in Plains, Georgia, is being renamed the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Post Office.

WALB previously reported that the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation that will allow the post office in Plains to be renamed as the “Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Post Office”.Since, the U.S.

McPherson recalled visiting Plains with his aunt and uncle during Carter’s presidential campaign and meeting Carter’s brother, Billy, at his service station. He also recalled meeting Carter at Mom’s Kitchen in Preston, about 10 miles west of Plains, and on a flight back to Atlanta from Billings, Montana.

While his home was always in the small Georgia town, Atlanta gave him the opportunities to cement a political and humanitarian legacy.

The U.S. Postal Service facility on Main Street in Plains will now be known as the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Post Office.
