Rite Aid announced May 5 it was filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is attempting to sell 'virtually all of its assets.'

After receiving feedback from the Federal Trade Commission that led Rite Aid and Walgreens to believe that they would not be able to obtain the clearance to complete the merger, the two companies terminated the original merger agreement, and simultaneously entered into an asset purchase agreement on June 28, 2017.
Any consumers who experience issues redeeming their Rite Aid points, coupons, unused gift cards, or with returning merchandise to Rite Aid should submit a complaint to the Bureau of Consumer Protection online or contact the Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-441-2555.
“Beginning, May 6, 2025, Rite Aid Rewards points will no longer be issued for qualifying purchases,” Rite Aid states on its website. Additionally, “Rite Aid will no longer honor Rite Aid gift cards or accept any return or exchanges beginning June 5.”
