Two vehicles were heading in the same direction when the deadly collision happened, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a Saturday afternoon accident involving a North Charleston Police unit.

One person was taken to a hospital in Columbia and later died, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Both the pedestrian and a 2001 Ford Explorer were heading east on Carmon Short Cut Road when the collision happened near the intersection with Jordan Church Road, according to Butler. The Florence County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the pedestrian.
