A polar vortex is slated to sweep most of the continental US bringing winter storm warnings and a hazardous freeze to millions.

Storm Warning was issued for York and Adams County for Sunday by the National Weather Service in State College, with a snowstorm expected.

The snow is likely to fall on Sunday from the Appalachians to New England. New York City may see its largest snowfall in years.

On Saturday at 2:55 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning valid from Sunday 10 a.m. until Monday 1 a.m. for Northern Wayne and Southern Wayne as well as Lackawanna, Luzerne and Pike counties.

The watch is in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon. Heavy accumulations of sleet and snow are possible.
