Catholic Charities Fort Worth, a nonprofit organization that serves as Texas’ refugee resettlement office, has sued the Trump administration, claiming the federal government has withheld more than $36 million in grants, leading its partners to lay off workers and close some offices.

Tens of thousands of refugees in Texas have not received federal assistance in weeks, leading to evictions in some cases, according to the lawsuit.

A lack of federal reimbursements has forced refugee service providers in Austin and across the state to furlough or lay off staff and cease services.
