Memphis Light, Gas, & Water customers are being asked to voluntarily conserve electricity by the Tennessee Valley Authority, which provides power to MLGW.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking North Alabama residents to conserve power as the utility works through a record high demand for electricity due to this week’s extreme cold. Specifically, the TVA is asking residents to lower power consumption between 6 a.

TVA says they are not expecting emergency conditions, but conserving energy Wednesday morning from 6 to 10, can reduce potential strain on the power grid and save customers money.
