The former International Champion is no longer stuck under his contract as it's been confirmed that Rey Fenix is gone from All Elite Wrestling.

Wrestlers being released from WWE and AEW is nothing new. Both promotions operate on a talent-hoarding basis, keeping stacks of talented performers signed to contracts solely to restrict them from competing elsewhere, such is the case with Tony Khan refusing to let Rey Fénix out of his AEW deal until its expiration.

Rey Fenix hasn't been seen on AEW programming for months. The high-flying luchador had reportedly informed Tony Khan that he didn't intend to remain with the company beyond his current contract.

Rey Fenix is now a free agent, but he reportedly won’t be for long. On March 3rd, Mike Johnson of PWInsider and other outlets reported that Fenix was no longer with AEW after he had been removed from the company’s roster page.
