The James Bond franchises has resisted spinoffs and TV shows for over 60 years, but this could be about to change after Amazon’s takeover.

What will become of James Bond? That’s the question very much on the minds of Brits — and millions more 007 fans around the world — now that the suave superspy, played most recently by Daniel Craig, is an employee of Amazon.

Amazon's purchase of the rights to James Bond understandably prompted some worries about changes to the enduring franchise. However, a recent report suggests that the production giant is making no major alterations, instead opting to respect the creative vision of the series' longtime custodians.

The James Bond franchise could be expanded with a female 007 spin-off, after streaming giant Amazon previously pitched the idea to producers. Other proposals included spin-offs centred around Bond’s CIA ally Felix Leiter and a prequel focusing on MI6 secretary Miss Moneypenny.

EON Productions shocked James Bond fans with the news that it’s selling the long-running spy franchise to Amazon.

Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan told The Telegraph that the next 007 agent should be British and hopes that Amazon will do the franchise justice.
