Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler has been hit with a lawsuit accusing him of failing to pay more than a quarter of a million dollars in rent for a luxury home in Miami Beach, FL, and leaving behind more than $125,000 in damage, according to the complaint.
The Jimmy Butler trade saga came to a blissful end on Feb. 6, when it was announced that the forward would be heading to the Golden State Warriors to assist Steph Curry. In the weeks leading up to the decision,
Golden State Warriors​ forward missed two monthly payments for a home he was leasing and for causing severe property damage.
Court documents obtained by WPLG 10 in Miami state that Butler allegedly caused $125,000 in damages from mold issues, damaged drywall and flooring, a broken HVAC system and an unmaintained pool. According to the Miami Herald, Butler allegedly left the 5,398-square-foot home in “complete disrepair.”
Among the other lease violations: Butler hired his own pool-cleaning people, who neglected their duties, and algae formed and the pumps broke, as per the suit. The five-time NBA All-Star also changed the locks without providing the landlord with a key. The cost of all damages, including mold remediation and new drywall, was $127,282.
