The judge in Bryan Kohberger's case said the trial will likely begin as scheduled after the defense requested to delay the start date.

At Wednesday's Bryan Kohberger hearing, defense attorney Anne Taylor pushed to delay the Aug. 11 trial, citing overwhelming evidence and jury bias from media leaks. She warned that moving forward could violate Kohberger’s rights and lead to an appeal.

Hurwit said delaying the trial because of the publicity surrounding it means the case is at the whim of the media. He said if the defense asks the court to delay the trial every time a new book or story comes out, then they are requesting “perpetual continuance.”
