Questions over privileged documents and possible state secrets were the main focus of an hours-long hearing Friday afternoon in the case of a Maryland man mistakenly deported by the Trump administration.

A Justice Department lawyer mirrored Trump officials’ aggressive position in the case of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who was wrongfully deported to a prison in El Salvador in March.

The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments Thursday on a challenge to President Donald Trump's effort to end birthright citizenship, and crucially, whether lower courts that have blocked Trump's policies from taking force nationwide have acted beyond their authority.
