WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has frozen, stalled or otherwise disrupted some $430 billion in federal funds — from disease research to Head Start for children to disaster aid — in what top Democrats say is an “unprecedented and dangerous” assault on programs used by countless Americans.

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration has so far withheld at least $436.87 billion of congressionally approved funding, the top Democrats on the U.S. Congress' appropriation committees said on Tuesday.

Top Democrats are accusing Trump administration of freezing nearly $437 billion in congressionally approved funds, potentially violating constitutional spending powers in a major budgetary dispute.

In his first visit to Michigan since winning the swing state last November, Trump hailed his disruptive tariff regime as “policies of common sense and genius,” celebrated a hardline immigration crackdown at the southern border and vowed to ramp up mass deportations — even as his administration confronts mounting legal challenges.

Trump touted his record on tariffs, DOGE and immigration at a Michigan rally aimed at promoting his first 100 days in office.
