National Signing Day for college football is on Feb. 5. Division I signees can begin signing on that date until the period ends on April 1. Division II signees can sign between Feb. 5 and Aug. 1. Kale Armstrong, Houston: Signed with Jackson State.

This groundbreaking initiative is set to begin in the Spring of 2025, with the inaugural season slated to kick off in late March.

On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi High School Activities Association announced it is sanctioning high school flag football there.

St. Martin, George County, Vancleave, East Central and Picayune will all field teams from the Coast as part of the inaugural season, which is scheduled to begin in late March. Brandon, McComb, Meridian, Oak Grove, Perry Central, Richland and South Pike round out the list of year-one teams.

Games will be played at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit and Picayune Memorial High School’s Lee-Triplett Stadium. Mississippi will be the 14th state to sanction the girts flag football as an official high school varsity sport.

Girls flag football is on the verge of becoming a high school sport in Mississippi, and athletics director James Lewis said the Vicksburg Warren School District’s two public high schools could field teams as soon as 2026.
