The USS Virginia's propellors got tangled in fishing nets off Norway, with a coast guard vessel needing to help cut it loose, per local reports.

A group of Norwegian fishermen found themselves in the headlines after failing to catch some delicious halibut, but instead hauling in an unexpected catch: a slightly less delicious US nuclear-powered attack submarine.

The submarine was the USS Virginia, a nuclear-powered 115 meters long attack sub. Such submarines are in recent years more frequently surfacing in the sheltered fjords outside Tromsø. Norway’s Coast Guard are assisting in bringing onboard supplies or new crew members.
