The weekend tornado that killed three people in rural Enderlin was the most deadly North Dakota has seen in nearly five decades.

Weather Service damage survey teams in eastern North Dakota gave preliminary ratings of EF-2 (wind speeds of 111-135 mph) to two tornadoes in Barnes County, and EF-3 to the Enderlin twister.
