Election officials in Michigan met with others from across the country in Ann Arbor Thursday as they prepare for the November general election.

Police say the victim suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized. The department's hate crimes detective is investigating.

Police said they are investigating an alleged antisemitic attack in Ann Arbor against a 19-year-old man who is Jewish. The incident happened at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday on Hill Street and South Forest in an area just southeast of the main campus at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor,

Jewish, Ann Arbor police said in a release. The intersection is near the University of Michigan campus. When the teen said yes, the group then assaulted him before fleeing the area, police said. The teen suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

A University of Michigan student was assaulted by a group of unknown males over the weekend after confirming to them that he was Jewish.

The alleged incident is the latest report of a Jewish student being attacked on a college campus this semester, nearly a year after student activism exploded and reports of antisemitism spiked following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.

The Ann Arbor police department says they are doing all they can to protect against incidents of antisemitism.
