Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith came into the Cotton Bowl as the breakout star of the College Football Playoff. In wins over Tennessee and Oregon, Smith exploded for 290 yards and four touchdowns as the Buckeyes won the matchups by a combined 45 points.

ARLINGTON, Texas >> Jack Sawyer returned a fumble 83 yards for a scoop-and-score touchdown, ending a potential game-tying drive by Texas and sending Ohio State to a 28-14 victory in a College Football Playoff semifinal on Friday night.

The Texas Longhorns offense has been dealt an early injury blow in the Cotton Bowl Friday night against the Ohio State Buckeyes. According to the Longhorn Radio Network, Texas receiver Matthew Golden suffered a foot injury in the first quarter and went into the medical tent.

The loss to Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl ends the 2024 football season for Texas, which is still searching for its first national title since 2005.

As the Longhorns seek their first conference title during their inaugural season in their new conference, one receiver that's lighting up the stat sheet early in the 2025 CFP semifinals is Texas receiver Matthew Golden.
