It's been a pretty boring couple of weeks on the waiver wire at starting pitcher. The most-added pitchers in recent weeks have mostly been boring veterans like Andrew Heaney, Tyler Mahle, and Jameson Taillon, useful enough streamers, but not the kinds of pitchers worth getting excited about or who should be part of your long-term plans.

In three starts since, Gusto has a 3.68 ERA over 14 1/3 innings with 14 strikeouts and just two walks. He’s coming off his best start of the season against the Blue Jays where he fell just one out short of a quality start and struck out six batters and allowed one earned run.

Your fantasy baseball pickups need not always be players you anticipate being around for the long haul. Sometimes today is what matters most. Injuries happen, especially on the pitching side. Skill sets shift and roles change quickly.
